The history of the Corellian Engineering Corporation is a story based upon duality. The strengths and evolution of CEC is the result of independent evolution of two shipbuilding corporations; the famed Corellian Engineering Corporation, and the Kiner Corporation.  

The Corellian Engineering Corporations has for thousands of years held a reputation for producing some of the finest ships in the known galaxy. For almost as long, it held a position as one of the largest and most successful ship producers in existence. CEC was for the longest of times based out of its namesake region of space, the Corellian Sector. When the throne of the Galactic Empire was assumed by Vodo Bonias, the management and employees of CEC recognized the inherent weaknesses in the Empire's new leadership. As with the bulk of the Empire's former supporters, the CEC of old disbanded and left the Corellian sector to seek a new home and a new purpose. The management teams knew that the Galactic Empire would crumble and become a shadow of its former glory. The company would undergo revitalization of its internal structure, having been bogged down during the ineptitude of Bonias' reign.  CEC would find a new home in the Bothan Sector with the Kiner Corporation. 

The Kiner Corporation, or KinerCorp as it is more commonly known as, had a long history dating back to the early years of space travel. The founder of the Corporation, Albert Kiner, with great skill and determination, set about to create an organization which allowed him to fulfill his dreams of a vast series of high-grade commercial spacecraft. Seeing that the demand for space travel was on the increase and many corporations had an interest in branching out into space, Kiner seized the opportunity to create an organization which allowed its products to become commercially widespread when there was a high demand for the development of commercial craft. Although less known than some of the more familiar ship producers, KinerCorp was, for a time, a conglomerate of shipwrights dedicated to their craft. Recognizing the needs of CEC, as well as their own interest in reaching the far stretches of the galaxy, Kinercorp welcomed with open arms the opportunity to join with the Corellian Engineering Corporation.  

After many discussions, a deal was ratified that merged the Corellian Engineering Corporation and Kiner Corp. Although no longer based in the Corellian Sector, the newly merged organization decided to retire the Kiner name in favor of the more publicly-recognized CEC branding. Within months, a massive reorganization was initiated that turned two of the galaxy's reputable ship producers into one; combining the individual strengths and assets into one unified purpose.  
The new CEC now continues to produce some of the finest ships in the galaxy including the CR-90 Corvette, CR-90A Assassin Corvette, DP-20A Gunship, DP-20C Gunship and the IPV-1 System Patrol Craft. CEC boasts one of the largest collections of shipyards and ship production facilities and as such maintains a large and dedicated support structure within its Civil Services Branch.  

With a level of experience that spans several millennia, a level of skill in their artisans that ensures a fine product, and a level of dedication and strategy held by its management team, the new Corellian Engineering Corporations continues to ensure it remains efficient and effective as it continues to evolve towards a brighter future.
